Containment When Dealing with a Fire Loss

One of the priorities that SERVPRO of Bordentown/Pemberton has when dealing with a fire loss in a home or business is setting up containment. COntainment serves three primary purposes. They are to contain the after effects of a fire, such as the spread of soot from the fire before and during cleaning, containing health risks to people and animals created by the burning of plastics and other materials during the fire and often is used in conjunction with "air scrubbing" machines, and to assist during the drying phase of the structure from the large volume of water used during firefighting operations. In this loss, our team set up containment in the stairs leading up to the attic that was used as a bedroom that was the room where the fire started and was contained to after a box fan caught on fire and fortunately did not spread throughout the rest of the house. You can see in the before picture the soot that was present on the walls from the fire.
